Birth is sacred and beautiful

A Doula can help uphold your wishes and provide individualized care for you and your family in all stages of pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

Let’s work together

My name is Haile, a Columbus Ohio based birth Doula.

Doulas add another member to the sacred group that is your birth team. My role is to walk with you and your family from pregnancy to birth to postpartum. I do this in a way that doesn't detract from the important role your partner plays and supports the wants and needs of the birthing person.

I am here to help you manifest and review your birth plans, inform on, and assist with laboring positions and coping measures for the wide range of emotional and physical feelings of labor and birth. I'm here to advocate for your wishes and needs, and I want to get to know you, your partner, your family, and your provider. I hope we can go through this journey as friends!

I have a passion for ENJOYING birth, and I hope that every client looks forward to the birth of their baby and can reflect on events with joy and awe.

I would love to walk with you on your journey and support you in the way you envision your relationship with your Doula.

Studies of doula care show that women who had a Birth Doula were:

  • less likely to have a cesarean section

  • less likely to have pitocin interventions

  • less likely to use pain medication

  • less likely to rate their childbirth experience negatively

My greatest inspiration in becoming a Doula has been my two daughters and my husband.

As soon as I saw the two pink lines on a pregnancy test, I knew that I had specific dreams of what my ideal birth would look like. At the time I did not have a lot of guidance from resources like a Doula, and did a lot of the research on my own, with little confidence. I am very lucky to have found an amazing midwife, who at the time, was working in one of the only birth centers in Denver, CO. They believed strongly in informed consent, a concept that is very important to me and all Doulas. We recognize in our work that MOST women do not have access to providers who carry these same values or have the birthing family’s wants in mind. This can result in fear-based practice, use of unnecessary inductions and medications, and cause birthing families to feel they lost control of their dream birth.

My second daughter was born at home under the loving watch of the same midwife who cared for me in my first pregnancy. It was a dream! The one thing I wish I had…was a Doula….my husband was so worried about caring for EVERYONE’s needs in the room. Gathering supplies, making sure the dogs weren’t in the room, caring for my daughter, getting me spoonfuls of honey & sips of water. He was not able to be as focused and hands-on during my labor as I know we both wish he could have.

This is why I am passionate about not interfering in the vital role that a partner provides. I want to help teach partners about all the available tools and have confidence in providing relief for birthing people both physically and emotionally. Let me worry about the rest! I am also always there to step in and give partners a break or be an extra set of hands to apply counterpressure and more.
